Joan West Obituary

Joan West, 91, of Danville passed away at 5:29 AM on September 17, 2022 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville, IL.

Joan was born on August 7, 1931 the daughter of Cecil and Tony (Stump) Porter in Bismarck, IL. She married William West, Sr. on October 11, 1952 in Georgetown, IL and he preceded her in death on May 16, 2013.

Surviving are two sons, William (Lisa) R. West, Jr. of Danville and Jeffrey (Carolyn) A. West of Georgetown; a daughter, Debbe (Sonny) Linn of Danville; grandchildren, Courtney Sempsprott, Megan (Ashley) Bolen, Haleigh (Matt) Morrison, Brittany West, Brock West, Corby (Melisa) West, Lise' (John) Schneider, and Jordan (Joan Brown) West, great-grandchildren, Ava Grace King, Rowan Frances King, Theo Blaine Morrison, Louis Everett Bolen, Laurel Jane Bolen, Annelise Frances Schneider, Elizabeth Jane Schneider, Benjamin Schneider, and as well as many nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband William West, Sr. and eight siblings.

Joan was a 1950 graduate of Danville High School. She was a member of Community Church of God in Danville, IL and enjoyed spending her free time camping as a member of the Salty Sam’s Club. Joan was also an avid sports fan, cheering for the Chicago Cubs, Bulls, Bears and the Illini. In her younger years, she was a softball catcher and pitcher in the Danville League for 23 years. Joan loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Pastor James Blue will officiate. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1-3:00 PM on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the funeral home.

Memorial may be made in Joan’s memory to American Heart Association.
