Jerry Lou (Holden) Young

Jerry Lou Young, 93, of Danville passed away at 10:20pm on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at her daughter’s home in California.  She was born on July 5, 1930, in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Lucille (Brewer) Holden.  She married Carl G. Young, on December 31, 1949 and had 71 years of celebrated New Years eves with her husband and best friend.  

Also surviving are two children, Carla G Young and Charles Robert (Shari) Young, a sister Carole J Shipman and brother Paul D (Barbara) Holden.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Lewis Wayne Holden and Michael Gary Holden and a son, Michael G Young.

Jerry graduated from Oakwood High School and later married Carl Young in Marin County, California after he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Hamilton Air Force Base. She retired from the Ridge Farm State bank after working there for twenty years. Jerry enjoyed quilting, reading, gambling at the river boat, traveling, and helping anyone who needed a hand.  

A graveside service for Jerry L Young will be held at 1PM on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Park 3901 N Vermilion Street in Danville, Illinois.  Retired Pastor Patti Wise will officiate.  Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3490 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834 is in charge of arrangements.
