James Mushrush Obituary

Champaign – James Robert Mushrush, 83, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born on October 24, 1938 in Olney, IL to Robert and Hazel (Kesler) Mushrush. Jim married Elaine (Jenne) Holzhausen on June 26, 2010. 

Jim is survived by his children Bradley (Allison) Mushrush of Herriman, UT, Diana Mushrush of El Cajon, CA, Suzanne (Michael) Hallihan of Champaign, IL, Bobbi (Norman) Wiseman of Petersburg, IL, Ben (Kim) Holzhausen of Monticello, IL, Jennifer (Bill Johnson) Dalton of Champaign, IL; grandchildren Joe (Laura) Mushrush of UT, Stephanie (Chris) Congdon of ID, Michael Mushrush of CA, Stacy Mushrush of IA, Meggie (Chris) Kreidel of CA, Andrew Madrid of CA, Mariel Hovey of IL, Daniel “DJ” Hovey of IL, Noelle Wiseman of IL, Noah Wiseman of IL, Devin Dalton of IL, Adelynn Holzhausen of IL; 18 great-grandchildren; brother Jerry Mushrush of Leesburg, FL; cousin Virginia Metz of Lombard, IL; brother and sister in-laws Coleen Blomberg of Kinmundy, IL, Curtis and Judy Jenne of St. Peter, IL; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nephew, great-great-niece to come; many cousins, friends, and neighbors.  He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 great-grandson; 1 sister-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law.

Jim grew up in Chauncey and Sumner, IL area and he attended Bridgeport High School in Bridgeport, IL.  He loved his grandpa Glenn Mushrush and his ponies as a child.  He carpentered for his Uncle Harley in the Chicago area as well as in Denver, CO.  He worked at Wheaton Engineering in Wheaton, IL, worked at Magnavox in Urbana, IL, drove a school bus for Unit 116 in Urbana, IL, and retired from Kraft Foods in Champaign, IL.  Jim loved to bow hunt, fish, wood working, wood turning, motorcycles, and cars.  He traveled across the US on his Harley motorcycle.  Jim enjoyed traveling to Europe, especially Poland.  He loved meeting and making new friends, telling stories, and collecting things.  He loved his pets and enjoyed rodeoing in his younger years. 

Memorial donations may be made in Jim’s name to Transitions Hospice; 332 Marion Ave. #N1, Forsyth, IL 62535; Bondville United Methodist Church; 100 W Chestnut St., Champaign, IL 61822; Hospice Hearts Animal Rescue; PO Box 17605, Urbana, IL 61803.  Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home.  A memorial “Celebration of Life” will be held at a future date.  Please join Jim’s family in sharing memories on his tribute wall at sunsetfuneralhome.com.
