James Haase

James Franklin Haase, 71, of Ridge Farm, passed away Tuesday March 26, 2024, at Pleasant Medows Nursing Home in Chrisman. Jim was born on December 1, 1952, in South Bend, Indiana to Franklin and Marilyn (Newcomb) Haase. Jim married Sue Scarlett on July 15, 2017, in Olivet, she will miss him dearly.

Jim leaves behind his children; Ryan (Heather) Haase, Eric (Tisha) Haase, Brandy (Ed) Peevler, Allison Haase, Sarah Haase, and Aaron (AJ) Scarlett, grandchildren; Seth (Ashley) McDaniel, Olivia (William Boettner) McDaniel, Lacey Peevler, Shelby Peevler, Paitan Haase, Westan Haase, Allie, Iris, Noah Scarlett, three great grandchildren; Alayna, Oakley, and Mackenna McDaniel, siblings; David, Mary Beth, and Richard.

 Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his son Dustan Haase, and sister-in-law Maggie.

Jim worked at the prison as a correctional officer, he was known as AA and a peace maker for the inmates. He retired from Danville Prison as a Lieutenant. Jim enjoyed woodworking, he loved to fish and watch Cardinals play baseball. Jim was a 32-degree member of the masons. He was a member of the Olivet Church of Nazarene and was a member of the retired correctional officer’s coffee club.  Jim was also a member of the Quaker men singing group. Jim never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew him.

A visitation for Jim will be held on Tuesday April 2, 2024, at Sunset funeral home and cremation center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 East West Street from 11-2pm. Service will take place at the funeral home at 2pm starting with Masonic rights. Officiating will be Pastor James Blue. Burial will follow at Vermilion Grove Cemetery.
