Jaiden Cooper Obituary

Danville – Jaiden David Cooper, 16, of Elkhart, IN, formerly of Danville, IL passed away on September 7, 2019 in Elkhart, IN.

Jaiden was born on November 21, 2002 the son of Chad Cooper and Christy Johnson in Danville, IL.

Jaiden is survived by his parents; Christy Johnson of Elkhart, IN and Chad Cooper of Danville, IL, brothers; Orlando and Pvt Anthony Cooper both of Danville, IL, Tyrin Newsome, Rylan Johnson, and Rhett (his mini-twin) Knapp all of Elkhart, IN, sisters; Phoenix Jimson of Danville, IL and ZaKiiah Johnson of Elkhart, IN, grandparents; David Cooper and Janet Myers both of Danville, IL, uncle; Eric Cooper (Godfather) of Danville, IL, aunts; Terisa “TT” Johnson of Danville, IL, Latricia Johnson of Pesotum, IL, and Margaretha Wells (Keys) of Los Angeles, CA, as well as cousin Latasha Johnson (Godmother) and several cousins, many of whom were very close, as well as several great aunts and uncles who will all miss him dearly.

Others who were special to Jaiden include “brother” Bishop Barber, “TT” Alexis Leavelle, “TT” Michaeleana Tuck, friends; Lance Newsome and Natris (Reesha) Morris and their families for playing a big part in his life, and numerous other friends he grew up with.

Jaiden is preceded in death by Grandmother; Lisa Johnson, Great-Grandparents; Cloyd & Eleanor Cooper, Joe & Lauretta Walker, and Quedella and Patricia Johnson.

Jaiden was baptized April 19, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Danville, IL where he attended church and Sunday School and served as Acolyte. He lived most of his life in Danville, IL until his family moved to Elkhart, IN in 2018.

Jaiden attended Danville Lutheran School, Cannon Grade School, Liberty Grade School, North Ridge Middle School, Danville High School, Elkhart Memorial High School and was currently attending The Crossing School of Business and Entrepreneurship. He was involved in various activities, including wrestling for Urbana Tiger Wrestling Club where he made it to State, baseball from T-ball to Pony League at American Legion Post 210 in Danville, basketball for Upward at Calvary Baptist Church, football for the Danville Saints; Chess Team, Track, and Choir for North Ridge Middle School in Danville, dance team with Critical Ambition in Danville, IL and boxing at St James Athletic Center Boxing Club in Elkhart which was his new found love.  This past summer in Elkhart, he played in the Gus Macker and volunteered in the Crossing School summer program as a student leader. Jaiden was very artistic and loved to dance and draw and make things by watching YouTube videos.

 

I cried when you passed away, I still cry today.

Although I loved you dearly, I couldn’t make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hand at rest.

God broke my heart to prove to me he only takes the best.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September 14, 2019 at 4:00 PM CST at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 E Main St, Danville, IL 61832. Pastor Kent Tibben will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 4:00 PM CST at the church. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N Vermilion Street, Danville, IL 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be given to The Crossing School, 515 S. Main St, Elkhart, IN 46516 or to the donor's choice in Jaiden’s memory.
