Glen Schultz Obituary

Glen William Schultz, 96, of Covington, Indiana was born April 9, 1923 in Danville, Illinois to William (Bill) Schultz and Viola Schultz.  He passed away peacefully on September 3, 2019 at Westminster Village in Terre Haute, Indiana surrounded by loved ones.

After graduating from Danville High School, Glen then enlisted U.S. Coast Guard.  He served in World War II as a Motor Machinist Mate First Class.  Upon his return to Danville he began working at Illinois Bell until he retired in 1986 after 40 years.

In 1947 he met the love of his life Vivian Peyton at the Illini skating rink in Danville.  They married that same year and on July 3, 2019 celebrated 72 years of marriage.

Glen enjoyed roller skating, traveling, riding his bicycle, golfing, swimming, playing handball, snow skiing, gardening, taking care of his yard and making spur of the moment drives to Michigan for cherries and white fish.  Glen (Big Time) was always up for a game of euchre, was known to sneak gas money to his kids and grandkids, loved eating breakfast at IHOP and was a frequent patron at the Beef House where the waitresses there were like family to him.   For years he started his mornings off by swimming at the Y and then stopping by Arnholt’s for a donut.   Glen never met a stranger, and could tell stories for hours.  Some you knew were true and others well……

Glen is survived by his wife Vivian (Peyton) Schultz, daughter Connie (Schultz) West, grandchildren Franci Rubin, Garicke Rubin (DeeDee), Ryan Anderson, Jared Anderson (Marithe), Shalane West, and Kelsey Martin (Branden).  Great Grandchildren Heather, Kavan, Rian, Micah, Adrian, Riley, Cooper, Mateo, Mattingly, Sienna, Mia, and his sister Virginia Adams.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, brother Sylvester (Sully) Schultz and daughter Janet Anderson.

A celebration of Glen’s life will be held at 3pm est. on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home in Covington, Indiana, 420 3rd street Covington, Indiana.
