Gertrude "Ruth" (Koblenzer) Peyton

            Gertrude “Ruth” Peyton, 89, of Danville passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 10, 2022 at her granddaughter’s home in Mattoon. She was born in Stuttgart, Germany on December 21, 1932 to parents Martha and Manfred Koblenzer. They preceded her in death. She married Paul Peyton in October of 1955. They shared a wonderful 63 years together before his passing in 2019. Also preceding her were her son, Paul Peyton, Jr. and her brother Manfred Koblenzer, Jr.

            Ruth is survived by her daughters Linda McLaughlin and Ilse Garrett, both of Danville. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister Else Brown of Austin, Texas and her brother Heinz Koblenzer of Germany and her best friend of 54 years, Gloria Nelson.

            Ruth was a loyal VFW Auxiliary volunteer at the VA Illiana Healthcare Center in Danville for 25 years. She enjoyed cooking meals from her German heritage and traveling when able. She liked to garden and loved the Opera.
