Gerald “Gary” Lloyd Parks, 82, of Danville passed away at his home with family by his side on Monday, November 4, 2019. He was born in Danville on September 30, 1937 the son of Henry Loyd and Esther Parks.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Kathryn A. Parks; three sons, Lawrence (DeAnna) Parks, Scott (Robin) Parks, Tim Parks; two daughters, Denise Barr, Susan Andrews; two step-sons, Dave (Dena) Moreman, Ed (Teresa) Moreman; two step-daughters, Brenda (Paul) Rhodes, Lisa Abdelghani; grandchildren, Lawren (Sam), Haylee, Hayden, Marissa, McKenzie, Justin (Jen), Eric (Erin), Adam, Garrett (Kitty), Zach, Andrew (Anjelica), Jenna, Brandon (Taylor), Garrett, Sierra (Zeth), Katie, Savannah, Samantha, Shaina, Austin (Tonika), Kathryn, Gretta, Flahnery, Taylor (Linsay) Ryan, Jeffrey (Charlotte) Laila (Blake), Yasmeen, Sam, Nora and several great and great-great grandchildren and many very special friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Loyd and Esther (Ma and Pappy) Parks.
Gary owned Danville Livestock Commission Company and Bullseye Livestock for several years and retired from Parks Livestock. He enjoyed living on his farm and taking care of his cows. He adored his “30 grandkids” and loved traveling to see them and his trips to Topsail Island NC. He also enjoyed watching westerns, playing euchre and blackjack, was an avid Cardinals fan, and celebrated his 82nd birthday in St Louis watching the Cardinals and Cubs with his family and friends. Gary was a kind and loving man and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.
A celebration of life will be held at 10am Monday November 11, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Officiating will be pastor Randall Robinson. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held on Sunday November 10, 2019 from 2pm to 5pm.
