Georgia Holderfield

Georgia Lee Holderfield, 88, formerly from Mahomet, died at 2:02 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Georgia was born July 4th, 1934, to Kenneth Kellar and Alta Foster Kellar.  She married Raymond Eugene Rippy on July 21st, 1950.  She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Cynthia Rippy, parents, and sister, Judy Weaver.  Georgia was also preceded in death by her second husband, Eugene Holderfield.

Georgia is survived by her son, Chuck (Lu) Rippy of Mahomet, IL.; sister, Jan (Steve) Sutton, of Pensacola, FL.; sister, Kenna Beard, of Fisher, IL.; grandchildren, Wade (Amy) Rippy, of Mahomet; Leah (Ben) Davis, Dewey and great-grandchildren, Sloane Davis, Beau Davis, Callen Rippy and partner for 23 years, Bob Christensen, of Aurora, IL.

Georgia worked for Mahomet-Seymour School District as the assistant food service director at Lincoln Trail School for 26 years until she retired.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and achieved the rank of Worthy Matron.  Over the years, Georgia enjoyed water-skiing, fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, and visiting with family and friends.  She especially enjoyed spending time at her Lake Mattoon home.  Many wonderful and loving memories were made there with her family.

Memorials may be made in Georgia’s name to the Fisher United Methodist Church, 101 E. Sangamon, Fisher, IL.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, February 3rd, 2023, from 10-11am with a service to follow at 11am at Fisher United Methodist Church, 101 E. Sangamon, Fisher, IL.

A burial of cremated remains will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign, IL. at a later date.
