George Dudich, Sr., 85, of Georgetown, passed away at 9:04pm, Sunday, May 12, 2019, at North Logan Health Care, Danville. He was born on August 5, 1933, in Westville, IL, the son of John and Susan {Yuhas} Dudich, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Emma Jean Lewis in Westville in 1958 until her passing in July of 1998.
He will be missed by: his son, George (Barbara) Dudich Jr. of Westville; his daughter-in-law, Heidi Dudich of Tennessee; his grandchildren, Andrew Dudich of Tilton & Amanda Dudich of Westville; his sisters-in-law, Bobbie Dudich of Danville & Donna Larbes of Georgetown; and special friend, Sandy Taillon. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Dudich; his brother, John Dudich Jr.; and his sister, Eleanor Holycross.
George was a Veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict from 1955 to 1957. He had held positions at Eureka & Bohn Aluminum, as well as Georgetown Waterworks. He later worked for the Georgetown School District until his retirement. He loved to work in his garden, go fishing, and mushroom hunt. George enjoyed working for the School and talking with kids and also working for Georgetown Waterworks.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00am, Friday, May 17, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 231 N State St, Westville, with Father Sauppé officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Georgetown, located at 200 E West Street with Rosary to held at 3:30pm. He will be laid to rest in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Westville. Memorial donations may be given in his name to donor’s choice of charity.
