Genevieve G. "Genny" (Winn) Citizen

Danville - Genevieve G. “Genny” Winn Citizen, 89, of Danville went to be with our awesome Lord on November 21, 2020.

Genny was born on May 19, 1931 in Danville, IL the 15th child of of Samuel and Laura (Wynn) Winn. She married William H. Citizen on May 22, 1948 at Central Christian Church in Danville and he preceded her in death on April 12, 2017.

Survivors include a wonderful caring daughter; Lynn Citizen, who was always there for her, her very special grandson; Shawn (Sheila) Owen, four wonderful, loving, caring and funny great-grandchildren; Madhu, Shyama, Dharmik and her miracle girl Amaya. All of them were her pride and joy.  Other survivors include several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews and her very special dog, Maggie. Maggie brought lots of joy to Genny’s life.

Genny is preceded in death by her parents, husband, William, nine brothers, five sisters, grandparents, as well as aunts, uncles, several nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Genny was a member Ridgeview Baptist Church and retired from Kmart after 21 years of service.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday November 27, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Park, 3901 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61832. Tony Goss will officiate. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Ridgeview Baptist Church in Genny’s memory.
