Frederick Bayles Obituary

Danville - Frederick W. “Bear” Bayles, 74, of Danville passed away at 8:25 AM on October 9, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Frederick was born on August 11, 1946 the son of Russell and Virginia (Moyer) Bayles in Danville, IL.  He married Cheryl Engelmann on January 11, 1975 in Danville and she survives.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Cheryl Bayles of Danville, IL, one sister Geraldine (Mick) Hoskins of Westville, IL, niece, Julie (Kent) Nelson, nephew, Dennis (Sheri) Hoskins and special cousin, Robert “Bobby” Bayles. He is also survived by special friend, Larry Quick, and life-long friend Eddie Reed.

Frederick is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Lillian Bayles.

Bear had a passion for attending auctions to find items he wanted to collect or sell.  In later years he enjoyed going to Larry Quick’s garage to “BS” and visit with the boys.  Bear also loved spending time restoring his 1967 Valiant, entering the ’67 Valiant in car shows and participating in car cruises.

A special Thank You to all of Bear’s friends who were always there when he needed them most. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, IL, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Fred Thornsbrough will officiate. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

It is kindly requested that those in attendance of service and/or visitation wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Memorials may be made in Bear’s memory to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter.
