Elizabeth Killough Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty Jean” Killough, 95, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Brownsburg Meadows Assisted Living in Brownsburg, IN. She was born on April 19, 1925 the daughter of Winifred (Kilbury) and Raymond Jones in Danville, IL.

Betty Jean is survived by her children, Jan (Gary Lyman Shaw) Blary Wilkinson-Shaw and Brenda (Ron) Cunningham; stepson, Tim (Candy) Killough; daughter in law, Mary Blary; grandchildren, Todd, Mark, Tara, Lee, John, Mike, Ryan, Brooke, Rachel, David, Katelyn, Taylor, and Mitchell; and 30 great grandchildren.

Betty Jean is preceded by her parents; first husband, Donald Wayne Blary, who passed in 1976 and by her second husband; Frederick Don Killough who passed in 1997; two sons, Don W. Bary Jr. and Richard Louis Blary; one infant daughter, Patty Jo; grandson, Matthew Blary; four siblings, Robert K. Jones, Raymond G Jones, Mary Myrtle Covert and Margaret (Peggy) Gibson.

Betty Jean was a member of the Central Christian Church in Danville, actively participating in their women’s group and the bible study. She would decorate tables for all the functions the church hosted for many years. She was a member of a card club that would gather to play every single month since high school until she was the last one. Betty Jean was an avid gardener, people all around the community would come around just to see her garden. She loved to watch the birds, especially hummingbirds, and would visit with them every day. Betty Jean also loved to crotchet and quilt. She made many baby blankets and lap blankets that she would donate to those in need. Her favorite past time was reading 7 books a week and she regularly donated to St Jude Children’s Hospital and the Central Christian Church.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Officiating will be Pastor Adam Harmon. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
