Dwayne Gettleman Obituary

Dwayne C. Gettleman, 57, of Bismarck passed away June 2, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. He was born a son of Rita and Morris Gettleman on June 20, 1963 in Flint, Michigan.  They preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Kelley Gettleman; daughter, Karah Sturm, and her husband, Lucas; son, Kody Gettleman; and granddaughters Addilyn and Violet Sturm. He is also survived by his siblings Gerald Gettleman, Joseph Gettleman, and Kristina (Scott) Carsner, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Dwayne was full of life, sarcasm, and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed woodworking and rooting on the Cubs baseball team. He worked at KSI Conveyors in Cissna Park for many years and recently held the title of “Pie Guy” at GeeManetti’s in Rossville where he had the pleasure of working alongside Karah before his passing. Dwayne loved spending time with his family any chance available, even becoming the Boy Scout leader for Kody’s troop when Kody was younger.

Dwayne proudly served in the United States Navy for 11 years. He will be afforded military rites at his graveside in dedication of his sacrifice.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville, Illinois 61834.
