Dean S. Blakeney

     Dean Blakeney, 83, of Danville, IL, passed away at home on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 9:36am.  He was born on March 21, 1939, in Danville, the son of Shirley and Ruby {Nier} Blakeney.  He was united in marriage to Alberta Karuzis on April 23, 1962, until her passing.
     He is survived by his children, Susan (Joe) Coffing of Covington, Ron Blakeney of Bloomington, and David (Donna) Blakeney of Terre Haute; his grandchildren, Brittany (Ryan Stimac) Coffing, Brooke (Keegan Prescott) Coffing, Erin Blakeney, & Gabbie Blakeney; with one great granddaughter on the way; and his lifelong friend, Fred Howard.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Alberta.
     Dean worked as an auto mechanic for many years and enjoyed restoring cars.  One his favorite things to do was going for car rides in the evening and listening to country music.  Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids.
     A celebration of Dean’s life will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883.  Visitation will be held 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Sts.
