Danny Lee Allen, Sr.

Danville – Danny Lee Allen, Sr., 70, of Danville passed away at 4:57 AM on April 9, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Danny was born on June 10, 1950 the son of Leonard Earl and Rosemary (VanDiver) Allen in Watseka, IL. He married Cindy Boswell on July 4, 2003 in Danville, IL and she survives.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Allen of Danville, IL, two sons, Danny Lee Allen, Jr., of Danville, IL and Jason (Carla) Allen of Danville, IL, three daughters, Salena (Matt) Miller of Heflin, LA, Tracy (Greg) Farthing of Highland, IL, and Nicole (Steve) White of Danville, IL, one step-daughter, Jamie (Adam) Rhoads of Paris, IL, three sisters, Gloria (Rick) Hufford of Danville, IL, Sharon (Hollis) Pierce of Tilton, IL and Donna Yanders of Danville, IL, sister-in-law, Phyllis Allen of Danville, IL as well as seventeen grandchildren Heather, Kami, Cierra, Dylan, Sydney, Caleb, Mara, Shelby, Andrew, Josie, Ryan, Cera, Jeannette, Danny, Madison, Collin, Carter, five great-grandchildren Riley, Kingston, Travis, Brantley, and one on the way due in May 2021 Hudson Lee. As well as several nieces and nephews and his dog Cisco and his cat Muttley.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leonard Allen, Jr. and two nieces Jamie Yanders and Renee Wright.

Danny was a truck driver for several years and retired in 2006. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was an avid dirt track racer, #905 and #05 for many years. Danny raced Modified, Late Model and Street Class at the Vermilion County Raceway and various other surrounding area tracks and held several Titles and Championships over the years.  He dearly loved spending time with his family especially his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 10:00 AM Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834. James Blue will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the funeral home. There will be a dinner following services at Sarges 409 East Main Street Danville, Illinois
