Crystal Starns Obituary

On April 5, 2021, Crystal Faye (Engelmann) Starns peacefully took her final breath surrounded by love.  She was born to John and Patricia Engelmann in Hillary, Illinois. She graduated from Oakwood High School and obtained an RN degree at the Lakeview College of Nursing. In 1982, Crystal and Jed Starns were married in Danville, Illinois.

Crystal and her adoring husband, Jed, were married for 38 years and they lovingly raised 6 children in Potomac, Illinois.  In her life, Crystal was many things, a devoted wife, a caring mother, a loving sister, and a generous friend.  If you ever found yourself in need, she would be there with advice, open arms and most likely an angel food cake.  You could often find her in the kitchen baking.  Her door was always open and a chair was always available for a good conversation at her kitchen table. If she wasn’t in the house, she was in her yard tending to the flowers that remind us of the home she created or in the garden she tilled and planted yearly that provided a generous bounty for all her loved ones.

Crystal Faye Starns is preceded in death by her parents, John and Patricia Engelmann, her siblings, Gregory and Joanie Engelmann, and her father and mother in-law, Robert and Beverly Starns.  She is survived by her siblings (Lori Engelmann, Hazel Engelmann, Cheryl Bayles, and Leah Engelmann), her children (Brandy Engelmann, Brooke (Divan) and Jeffrey Parsons, Jody (Divan) and Cale Boyd, Jason and Tabitha Starns, Seyward (Starns) and Wayne Loschen, and Jed Starns), her grandchildren (Jonah, Norah, Micah, Zoey, Brenna, Cale, Macaulen, Tanner, Layten, Joseph, Rylan, Alyson, Thomas, Rowen and Olivia) and an expected great-grandchild.

Those we love do not go away.  They walk beside us every day unseen, unheard but always near.  Still loved.  Still missed. And very dear.
