Clifford Carl Kagels

Covington, IN – Clifford Kagels, 81, of Covington, Indiana, passed away at 4:30 AM Tuesday March 29, 2022 at Franciscan Health in Crawfordsville, IN.

Clifford was born on January 5, 1941 the son of Lawrence and Mamie (Christensen) Kagels in Danville, IL. He married Doris Rose Galloway on August 21, 1966 at the Salem United Methodist Church in Covington, IN and she preceded him in death on April 11, 2008.

Survivors include one son, Garth (Tina) Kagels of Covington, IN, two granddaughters, Olivia (Corey) Osborne of Covington, IN and Mariah (Kaleb Gulley) Kagels of Veedersburg, IN, two great grandchildren, Beau Osborne and Bear Osborne of Covington, IN, one sister, Irene Spicer of Danville, IL and one brother, Jerry Kagels of Westville, IL as well as several nieces and nephews.

Clifford is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Doris Rose Kagels, and siblings, Larry Kagels, Bob Kagels and Donnie Kagels.

Clifford was retired from Smurfit-Stone where he worked for over 30 years. He was also a freelance photographer and a member of the International Freelance Photographers Organization. Clifford enjoyed taking photographs of a variety of subject, especially trains and enjoyed model railroading, tinkering in on projects and building unique items for his granddaughters.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana 47932. Corey Osborne will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington, IN. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial may be made in Clifford’s memory to the Covington High School Athletic Department or the West Central Indiana Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
