Carla Jean (Crippin) Powell

Carla Jean Powell, 57, of Danville IL., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

She was born on February 7, 1966, in Danville, IL., the daughter of Herbert and Carolyn (Rector) Crippin.

Carla is survived by her companion: Chris Jackson of Danville, IL; her children: Michael Powell of Paris, IL., William (Ashley) Powell of Georgetown, IL., and Samantha Powell of Wichita, KS; grandchildren: Lane, Taylor, Tucker, Hunter, Kori, Tristyn, Trisha Rose, Katelyn, Julius and Joseph; a sister: Georgia (Rick) Murray of Newman, IL; a sister: Georgia (Rick) Murray of Newman, IL; and a special friend: Jody Pryle.

Carla was preceded in death by her parents, a son: Thomas Emory Powell Jr; a brother: Jerry Crippin and a sister-in-law: Linda Crippin.

Carla was never afraid to get her hands dirty. She spent many years working on various landscape projects around Danville and enjoyed doing gardening around her home. Not one to turn down a challenge, she also stepped right up when it came time to help her son William process a deer. She loved decorating the walls of her home with puzzles she had diligently worked on along with her paintings and artwork. Above all, Carla enjoyed spending time with those she loved the most.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 6-8PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St., 61834. Per Carla’s wishes, cremation will take place following the visitation.
