Blanche Russian Obituary

Blanche Omerine Russian, 104, of Westville passed away on April 12, 2024 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville. She was born on March 12, 1920 in Westville to the late Louis and Georgette (nee Champomier) Parmentier. She graduated with the Class of 1939 from Westville High School.

            Blanche married John “Catlin” Russian on July 1, 1944 in Westville. They spent a wonderful 45 years together before his passing in September of 1989.

            She loved doing yard work, canning, and baking. Above all else, Blanche enjoyed spending time with her family. She particularly looked forward to her two sons taking her out every weekend.

            She is survived by her sons Richard L. (Debby Pinnick) Russian of Tilton and John C. (Barbara) Russian of Danville and grandchildren James Russian, Donna (Dale) Swick, Amy (Joe) Crist, Anne (Mike Pearson) Russian, and Ryan (Mandy) Russian. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Courtney Swick, Torsten Forlandsaas, Allison Crist, Kylie Crist, and Jacob Russian; her brother-in-law Harold Bennett and sister-in-law Evelyn Coleman; special cousin Karen (Garnet) Miller; and many nieces and nephews, including Rochelle Schuster; as well as special friends Beverly Brazas, Leonette Elsberg; and Tom and Tracie Petersak.

            In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister Louise (Ben) Nelms; infant sisters Helen and Omerine Parmentier; daughter-in-law Judi Russian; mother and father-in-law Mary and John Russian; cousins Ferdinand “Batisse” Parmentier and Leona Carter; and special friends Catherine Gannessy and Bertha Vinson. She is also reunited with several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

            A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 10 am to 12 pm at Sunset Funeral Home’s Urbas Chapel, located at 414 S. State Street in Westville. A funeral service will follow at 12 pm, also at the funeral home. She will be placed to rest with her husband John “Catlin” at Spring Hill’s mausoleum in Danville following services.
