Billy Massey Obituary
Danville - Billy Wayne Massey, 83, of Danville passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 6. Bill was born on October 16, 1936 in Danville, IL the son of James and Lois (Johnson) Massey. He married Carolyn Joan Spandau on June 10, 1956 in Danville, IL. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by his three children, Candi (Kevin) Ingalsbe of Danville, Greg (Bunie) Massey of Fishers, IN and Tim (Gena) Massey of Danville. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, Tiffany (Jeff), Tiara, Tia, Trista (Chris), Trey, Anthony, Evan, Austin (Sarah), Ethan (Ashlyn), and Ian (Angel), nine great-grandchildren with one on the way and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn, his parents, sister, Joyce Goodpaster and one great-grandson, Thao Nardoni.
Bill was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Gainmore Sunday school Class and the Illiana Antique Auto Club. He spent his life devoted to the Lord, leading the family in love and generosity. He was a faithful and caring husband for nearly 64 years and simply couldn't fathom life without his bride. He spent only ten days missing her before he joined her in Heaven with their Savior. He found great joy in restoring antique cars, attending car shows and being surrounded by his ever-growing family. He was the go-to, the fixer, the one we could count on. His smile and laughter brought us great joy and we will miss him greatly, but we are rejoicing for him to be reunited with his sweet wife.
A private family Graveside Service for Billy Massey will be held on Monday, May 11, 2020 at 2PM at Sunset Memorial Park. Pastor Joe Humrichous will officiate. Private family visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
