Arnold Smiley Obituary

Arnold “Dean” Smiley, 85, of Danville passed away on January 10, 2020 peacefully at his home.

He was born in Danville the son of Robert and Eleanor (Chapman) Smiley. He married Freida Rouse and she preceded him in death.

Dean will be deeply missed by his children; Vicki (Jerry) Frazier of Danville, Lori (Bruce) Coleman of Gilbert, AZ, Darla Hudson of Danville and Steven Smiley of Danville, siblings; Gary Smiley and Phyllis Smiley, along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one son, Scott Smiley.

Dean served in the United States Air Force. He worked various jobs but retired as a security guard for a factory in Danville. He was known by the neighborhood kids as “Deano” or “Old Fogie”. He had an open door to anyone and helped all the kids in the neighborhood with whatever they needed. Dean loved to go fishing and eat ice cream, even in the winter. He loved his dogs “Sweetie” and “Scooby-Doo” and all of his family very much.

A graveside service for Dean will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Park with Pastor Greg Taylor officiating. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville 3940 North Vermilion St. Danville IL, 61834 is in charge of arrangements.
