Alma Lovett Obituary

Alma Jane Lovett, 93, of Danville passed away on Friday September 18, 2020. She was born in Catlin on August 13, 1927 the daughter of Clarence and Nelly Thomas. Jane married the love of her life John “Jack” R. Lovett and they spent many wonderful years together before his passing in 2004.

Jane is survived by her grandchildren, Lisa (VanCamp) Miller, Steve Lovett, Sue Ann Lovett, Daniel Spencer; great-grandchildren, Lacie (Matt) Martin, Marco VanCamp, Gina Spencer, Julianna Spencer, Savannah Sollars, Alyssa and great great-grandchildren, Lettie Martin and Weston Martin.

She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Nelly Thomas; husband, John “Jack” Lovett; son, Steve Lovett; daughter, Christine (Johnson) White; brothers, Les Brown, Howard “Joe” Thomas, Henry Brown, James Brown; sisters, Viola Reffeitt, Cora Anderson, Neoma Wright, Ethel Pruitt, Letha Phillips and two grandchildren, Mike VanCamp and Julie (VanCamp) Newbrough.

In her younger years she was known as Calamity Jane, however, her grandchildren gave her the nickname Grandma up The Hill. Jane had a passion for crafting and would bring the items she made to many craft shows in the area. She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ and she truly enjoyed volunteering at her church’s food pantry. She liked reading, bird watching, sudoku and word find puzzles as well as playing cards and Yahtzee with her friends and family. Her family meant the world to Jane and she loved to spend her time with them. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her.

A Celebration of Jane’s life will take place at 11am on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 with Pastor Rob Ketcherside officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10am to 11am. Alma will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Danville.
