Normajean Schingel

Normajean Schingel, 86, of Danville passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Normajean was born on May 12, 1925 in Danville, Illinois daughter of Clive and Angela (Bradfield) Griffin. She married Larry Schingel on August 31, 1942 in Camp Forest, Tennessee. He preceded her in death in December of 1997. Survivors include four children: Susan and her husband James Caldwell of Corpus Christie, TX, Michael and wife Joann Schingel of Tilton, IL, Sister Jean Patrice Schingel of Chicago Heights, IL, and Jeffrey L. Schingel of Fishers, IN; nine grandchildren: Debbie England, Michael Todd Schingel, Kim Long, Troy Barsten, Billie Jo Dill, Steve Mullins, Michelle Safford, Mike Lee Scott, and John Randal Scott; as well as numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Nancy Stone and sister Beverly Roberts. Normajean worked at tot and toys, Meis and Elder-Beerman in the children's department until she retired in 1990. She enjoyed sewing and planting flowers, but her loved was for quilting. Normajean has made hundreds of baby quilts for family and friends. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Pauls for many years. She was an active member of St. Pauls church since 1945. She felt very close to her St. Pauls community and felt the Church was a special blessing in her life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon, Thursday, June 2, 2011 at St. Pauls Catholic Church with Father Greg Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 Wednesday evening at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
