Norma Smith

Danville - Norma Sue "Susie" Smith, 75, of Danville, passed away peacefully at 12:10 am, Friday, June 21, 2013 with family by her side. Sue, Susie as she was affectionately known, was born on August 13, 1937 in Bloomington, Indiana, to Don Elmo and Helen Gertrud (Brown) Brosman. She married Kenneth "Kenny" W. Smith Sr., March 21st, 1981 in Danville, Illinois. He preceded her in death January 23, 2007. She is survived by four daughters: Betty (Jerry) Catt, Marshall, Il., Patricia Johnson, Westville, Il., Linda (Richard) Hanners, Sulphur Springs, Ark., Vickie Hyatt, Robinson, Il., Two sons: Clyde Lee (Stacey) Hyatt, Danville, Il., and Terry Joe Hyatt, Rushville, Il. One step-daughter: Diana Madina, St. Juliet, Tn. Two step-sons: Kenny Wayne Smith Jr., Vieanna, Il., and Robert (Pete) Smith of Champaign, Il. One Brother: Don (Bertha) Brosman, Danville, Il., a sister-in-law: Margaret A. Brown, Danville, Il. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son - Edward E. Hyatt, a brother - Louis (Pete) Brown, three sisters - Joyce A. Hickman, Helda Taylor and Eva Brosman. She was employed by General Electric until it closed, then Sun Bridge as a CNA until retiring. Per her wishes Norma will be cremated at Sunset Cremation Center with no services. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville is in charge of arrangements.
