Norma Ruth (Tarpley) Woodrum, 85, of Danville, graduated from life on earth to eternal life in heaven at 9:21 a.m. Friday, April 27th, 2012 at North Logan Health Care Center. Norma was born on May 31st, 1926, in Danville, the daughter of Adney F. and Daisy (Atwood) Tarpley. She married Elmer Lee Woodrum on July 20th, 1947, in Danville. He preceded her in death on February 18th, 1990. She is survived by her four children-Alan (Becky) Woodrum of Danville, Clifford (Jo Ellen) Woodrum of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Ruth (David) Staley of Danville, Illinois and Leslie (Jane) Woodrum of Danville, Illinois; daughter-in-law- Rosemary Woodrum of Terre Haute, Indiana; one sister- Lois Larimer of Munster, Indiana; seven grandchildren-Brian Woodrum, Bill Gilbert, Chris Gilbert, Josh Boyd, Shaun Woodrum, David Woodrum, Ashley Desmond and Dallas Woodrum; several great-grandchildren; step-grandson-Davie Staley; step-granddaughter- Jennifer Holman; and 11 step great-grandchildren-. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Elmer, son-Virgil Woodrum, granddaughter-Michelle Wolfgang, sister- Vera Whitaker Huffman and a brother- Roy Tarpley. Norma graduated from Danville High School. She worked many years for the Lyons NYC Credit Union. She helped her husband with Boy Scout Troop 390 and the 4-H group led by her husband. She loved antique autos, going to swap meets and flea markets. She was a lifelong member of Second Church of Christ, in Danville, where she once taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. Norma enjoyed working in the yard, sewing and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. A Celebration of the Life of Norma Ruth Woodrum will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Drew Mentzer officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Key Club or to Second Church of Christ.
