Norma M. Burmeister, 94, of Danville, passed away at 5:13 a.m. December 2nd, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Norma was born on July 9th, 1917, in Lincoln, Illinois, the daughter of Adolph G. and Anna F. (Mahler) Yagow. She married William Schramm Jr. on September 5th, 1937 in Lincoln, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 11th, 1961. She later married Elmer Burmeister on November 29th, 1975. He preceded her in death on November 11th, 1981. She is survived by two daughters- Arletta (John) Stuebe of Park Ridge, Illinois and Bonnie (John) Gotham of North Fort Myers, Florida; three step-sons- Max Burmeister, Ralph Burmeister and Wayne Burmeister; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two brothers- Adolph Yagow and Elmer Yagow, one sister- Margaret Deverman and three grandchildren. Norma was a graduate of Zion Lutheran School and Lincoln High School, in Lincoln, Illinois. She worked as a bookkeeper at F.W. Means and Co. and E.B. Collins Co. Norma was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Eunice Society, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Share Food Program of Central, Illinois and was a previous choir member and Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed crafts, traveling and loved spending time with her family and friends. A Celebration of the life of Norma M. Burmeister will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 7th, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kent Tibben officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church and 3:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6th, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
