Norma Jean Schmidt

Danville - Norma Jean Schmidt, 85, passed away on Monday April 11, 2016 at Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born on March 2, 1931 in Carroll, IA, the daughter of Peter and Margaret (Potthoff) Hausman. Norma married Theodore Eugene Schmidt on September 1, 1952 in Halburt, IA. Norma is survived by her children Michael Schmidt, Kathy (James) Broderick, Thomas Schmidt, Timothy (Rosie) Schmidt, Peggy Arnold, and David (Linda) Schmidt; grandchildren Jason, Anthony, Heidi, Kimberly, Lindsey, Gerald, Theo, Olivia, Erica, James, Mitchell, Brett, Rachel, and Eleanor; great-grandchildren Cameron, Rori, Anthony, Payton, McKenzie, Braun, and Max; brother Andrew (Sally) Hausman; and sister Hilda (Cyril) Schulte. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Ted Schmidt, and several brothers and sisters. Norma enjoyed playing bridge, dancing with her husband, and gardening at her church. She was a great hostess and she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Memorial service will be held on Friday April 15, 2016 at 11am at St. Paul's Church in Danville. Burial at Danville National Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Norma's name to St. Paul's Church.
