Norma Jean Holycross Norma Jean Holycross, 80, of Tilton, passed away at her home on Sunday, February 9, 2014. She was born in Danville, IL on November 24, 1933, the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Guth) Wahlfeldt. She graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School in 1947 and Danville High School in 1951. Norma married Herman Holycross, October 18, 1952. He preceded her in death in September of 1997. Surviving Norma are two sons, Jerry (Debra) Holycross of Oakwood and Mark (BJ) Holycross of Woodbridge, VA; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Sara) Holycross of Fort Knox, KY, Joseph Holycross of Urbana, Elizabeth Holycross of Oakwood, Gabriel Holycross of Woodbridge, VA, and Aidan Holycross of Woodbridge, VA; five great grandchildren; three siblings, Ernestine Burris of Danville, Richard (Clarice) Wahlfeldt of Danville and Evelyn Nolen of Georgetown. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one great granddaughter, and four siblings, Ruth Ashby, Martha Wahlfeldt, Robert Wahlfeldt and Dorthy Alexander. Norma started her career working at YWCA, Montgomery Wards, and then the Meis Department Store. She later managed the toy department of Alexander Sporting Goods, and finished her career as the manager of Old Town Video in Westville. She was very active in her church, Central Park Church of Christ in Tilton, IL. She enjoyed growing flowers. She also loved to play Euchre, Bunco and Bingo. Norma was always positive, strong, never complained, and was a very hard worker. She was a cancer survivor for 11 years. A celebration of Normas life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 10:00am at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home in Danville, IL. Pastor Wade Martin will be officiating. Visitation will be Friday, February 14, 2014 from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Normas name to Presence Cancer Center or Central Park Church of Christ.
