Norma Jane Brown, 91, passed from this world on September 22, 2023 at her residence.
Jane resided in Danville most of her life except for a brief time during her early childhood. She was born in Lafayette, Indiana on February 28, 1932 to William and Hulda (Bowdle) Blanton.
She was a graduate of Danville High School and St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing. Jane was a practicing Registered Nurse for more than 50 years and was very proud of her role as a nurse educator for many classes of CNA's.
Jane and Louis Brown were married on April 15, 1953, and raised three children, Jeffrey (Mary) Brown of Westfield, IN, Jennifer (Kenny) Cravens of Danville and Laura (Kevin) Williams of Randolph, VT.
Jane was very proud of her grandchildren Justin Brown, Rebecca Sweeney, Michael Brown, Rachel Cravens, Kyle Williams and Keith Williams. Jane's great-grandchildren, Vincent Perrault, Vivian Perrault, Karly Williams, Elliott Brown, Isla Brown and Isabelle Sweeney were a great joy to her in the last years of her life.
She is also survived by siblings Marilyn Blanton of Danville, Marvin (Esther) Blanton of Champaign, and Thomas (Betty) of Danville. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jane was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church for more than 60 years. She enjoyed artistic pursuits including her own ceramic studio and later perfected her craft as a jewelry maker. Jane was preceded in death by Louis, her parents, brother Willard Blanton and sister Maxine Pulver.
Janes family is very thankful for her care provided by the staff of Transitions and The Villas of Holly Brook.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at St Pauls Catholic Church, 1303 N Walnut St. Danville, IL 61832. Father John Cyr will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.
