Norma J. Barrett

Norma Jane Barrett, 75, of Danville passed away at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign, on April 13th, 2011. Norma was born September 19, 1935 to Wilbur and Gertrude Varner Kennett in Rankin Illinois. She was first married to Terry Osborn and out of that union are two children who survive, Terri (Greg) Edwards of Covington, IN and Tod Osborn of Danville, IL. She was later married to William Barrett who passed away in 1989. Surviving besides her two children are six grandchildren Josh (Trisha) Edwards of West Lebanon, IN, Jessie (Scott) Gillespie of Lafayette, IN and Jodi (Danny) Ralston of Avon, IN, Shay Osborn of Bloomington IL, Abby Osborn of Danville, IL and Amanda (Kelly) Gee of Chicago, IL and four great grandchildren, Caleb and Ross Edwards, Addison Gillespie and Dane Ralston. Normas parents, husband, 2 brothers and sister preceded her in death. Ron Berry, a longtime companion also preceded her in death in 2007. She was a longtime member of Vermilion Heights Christian Church. Grandchildren and great grandchildren were a highlight of her life. All children were special in Normas life, starting with those who attended Garfield school where she was known as the lunch lady. She was one of the original ladies who started that program at Garfield School. The children in Valley Run Trailer Park where she resided for over 30 years knew her always as Grandma B. Later Norma became office assistant to Dr. Quianzon and Dr. Sekar where she retired. Norma also enjoyed bowling, garage sales and was an avid Cub fan. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A service to celebrate the Life of Norma Jane Barrett will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Ken Bostwick will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, April 15 also at Sunset. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
