Norma Jean (Pepping) Snider, 78, of Georgetown passed away at 2:05 p.m. Saturday August 21, 2010 at Provena USMC Logan Campus. She was born on February 17, 1932 in Steelton, IL the daughter of James Henry and Matilda Clara (Felgenhauer) Pepping. She married Charles Don Snider on November 22, 1950 in Georgetown, IL. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2001. Survivors include his son, Mike (Mary) Snider of Tuscola, IL; two daughters, Debbie (Ed) Noggle of Greenville, IL and Sue (Mike) Middlemas of Lawrenceville, IL; eight grandchildren, Eric (Christy) Noggle of Springfield, IL, Candace (Matt) Hutton of Champaign, IL, Justin (Miriam) Snider of Marshall, IL, Lindsey (Adam) Lanter of Springfield, IL, Ben (Heather) Snider of Springfield, IL, Jessica and Caleb Middlemas both of Chrisman and Kelsey Middlemas of Lawrenceville, IL; seven great-grandchildren, Mallory and Evan Noggle, Mason and Clark Hutton, Simon and Elliot Lanter, and Samuel Snider; sister in law Viola Pepping of Westville, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Donald Snider, Daughter-in-law, Robin Snider, three brothers, Harry, Louis, and Don Pepping, four sisters, Clara Harris Lehman, Mildred Roberts, Mary Lourdeau, and Evelyn Moulder, and four infant siblings. Norma graduated from Georgetown High School. In her younger years, she worked as a waitress at the Wolford Hotel in Danville. She later worked for the Georgetown School District as a bus aide for the handicapped and a playground supervisor at the Jr. High. Norma attended the First Church of Christ in Georgetown. She was a member of the Georgetown Fire Dept. Auxiliary and the Georgetown Ridge farm Band Boosters for 21 years. Norma belonged to a BUNCO club that had been together for 53 years. She loved going to their family cabin in Wisconsin. Norma enjoyed fishing, gardening, and cooking. She also enjoyed crafts, sewing, and dancing in her younger days. Norma loved Christmas and collecting ornaments. She enjoyed playing card games with her family and friends. Through the years she had several pets. Most of all Norma enjoyed being with her grandkids. A celebration of Normas life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday August 27, 2010 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Chapel, a Life Celebration Home. Justin Snider will officiate. Burial will be at Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday August 26, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Georgetown-Ridge Farm band boosters.
