Nora 'Vernell' Myers

Nora Vernell Myers, 92, of Champaign passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 1, 2021

Vernell was born August 22, 1929, in Danville, Illinois to Camille Fourez Jr., and Ruby Chitwood

Fourez.

Vernell married Dale E. Myers on November 21, 1948 at Hebron Methodist Church, Newtown, Illinois.

She is survived by her husband Dale of 73 years, son Robert Myers, daughter Karen (Joey) Hager,

granddaughter, Kristina (Jay) Mitchell, grandson Justin Hager, step-grandsons, Robert Turkowiecz and

Mark Turkowiecz, step-great granddaughter Jacqueline Mitchell and step-great grandson, Jacob

Sanchez. She was preceded in death by son, Glen Dale Myers, daughter-in-law Lynn Yeazel Myers,

daughter-in-law Marie Myers, brother Fred Fourez and 2 sisters, Doris Musson and Flora Kay Martin

Chacon.

She retired from the Parkland Secretarial Staff after many years. She enjoyed making friends,

needlework and camping with husband Dale in their van and camper. She has visited 46 states in their

van and camper. She especially enjoyed winters in Texas with the R-VICS (Roving Volunteers in

Christs Service) renovating homes for the needy.

She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star in which she was a third generation worthy

matron. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Champaign since 1961 as

well as a member of Champaign Womens Club.

Memorials to celebrate Vernells life may be sent to First United Methodist Church in Champaign,

Illinois and/or Parkland College Foundation in Champaign, Illinois.

A service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, beginning at 12pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Champaign, Illinois 710 N. Neil Street Champaign, Illinois 61820. Visitation will be held prior from 10-12pm. Vernell will be interred at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Oakwood, IL
