Nora D. Sands

Nora Dean Sands, 85, Passed away at OSF Medical Center on March 15th 2025 .

She was born December 19th, 1939, The daughter of James and Blanche Owen. She was united in marriage to Harold Dean Sands on December 31, 1965.

She was a mom to Jamie (Chad) Green grandmother to Jacob and Jordan Green. She has four special surviving nieces, Christine Smith, Alice Sollars, Tiffany Morgan and Tina Kagels. Nora had many nieces and nephews. She has joined her loving husband, her sister Joyce and Bird Ewing and four nieces and one nephew. Nora was a beautician and her last job was a caregiver at the YWCA. Nora was “Aunt Nora” to everyone. She was well loved by many. She was a lifetime member of the Georgetown Nazarene Church. She also enjoyed attending the services at the Goldwater Care Nursing home. She loved the lord and her family. She loved children and pets. She left behind her last pet Foxy Lady. She had many animals over the years. She enjoyed old movies listening to Elvis and playing games and reading.

A Celebration of Life for Nora will take place at 1PM on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Houghton-Leasure Chapel 200 E. West Street Georgetown, Illinois. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11AM – 1PM on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the funeral home.
