Nora Jean Rice

Nora Jean Rice met her Lord and Savior on October 16, 2025, at 10:30 pm at Williamsport Nursing home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on March 15, 1948 to Robert and Vernnia Spangler in Homer, IL.

She met and married her beloved husband Robert Ray Rice in 1970. She had six children and one foster child. They are as follows; Michael Meek, who preceded her in death, Lisa Lawyer (Dave) of Boswell, IN, James Rice (Shelby) of Tilton, IL, Shane Rice (Beth) of Danville, IL, Corey Rice (Jaime) of Georgetown, IL and Travis Rice (Shea) of Covington, IN and foster child, Alvin Johnson of Rantoul, IL.

Proceeded in death by her parents, siblings, son, husband and many others loved ones waiting on her.

One of Noras’ favorite sayings “She’s blessed and highly favored” because of her 11 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren. She was always out with her cousins, Vickey Juras and Patty McGehee or with her great friends, Diana and Vern McDaniels.

Abundant Life Church was her place to refill her Spiritual Tank with Pastor Ford and Mary. You might have caught her surrounded by all types of people. She would spend her time trying to help others. She would listen with her whole heart and throw a prayer in there to witness too them, and they knew she would continue to.

She enjoyed being a wife, a sister, a farmer girl, and mother and grandmother to many. After meeting Nora once you were considered family. Nora loved the color purple and butterflies. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois, 61834. Pastor James Ford will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the funeral home.
