Nora L. Dowers

Cayuga, Ind. - Nora L. Dowers, 79, of Cayuga, passed away at 9:20 p.m. CST Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, Illinois. She was born November 27, 1937 in Cayuga, Indiana the daughter of the late Doc Wallace and Waunetta L. (White) Pearson. Nora married Clifford E. Dowers on September 21, 1956 in Cayuga, Indiana. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1989. Survivors include two sons, Chris Allen (Tamie) Dowers of Hillsdale, Indiana and Scott Wallace Dowers (Linda Darby-Dowers) of Danville, Illinois; two granddaughters, Kacie Jo (Luke) Adams of Terre Haute, Indiana and Madison Claire Dowers of Bloomington, Indiana; one sister, Mary Sue Bennett of Terre Haute, Indiana; brother-in-law, Norman (Janet) Dowers of Lodi, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Edna Colson and Karen Dowers both of Cayuga, Indiana; Marsha (Bill) Ernst of Mt. Vernon, Ohio and Charlotte Dowers of Cayuga, Indiana; special friends, Dora Swisher; Mike Morgan and George and Virginia Davis, and many nieces and nephews. Nora was preceded in death by her brother, David Pearson. Nora owned and operated Nora's Beauty Shop in Cayuga from 1956 thru 2015. She was a 1955 graduate of Cayuga High School. Nora enjoyed doing hair, watching Indiana University Basketball and spending time with her family. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EST Friday, February 24, 2017 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Terry Goodwin; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EST Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Friday. Contributions may be made in Nora's memory to the Cayuga American Legion Scholarship Fund, 922 West Ferry Street, Cayuga, Indiana 47928.
