Nora Jane Hible

Danville Nora Jane (McClain) Hible, our loving mother, 94, passed peacefully on Thursday December 23, 2021.

Nora was born to Charles Dewey McClain and Gladys Marie McClain on November 16, 1927. She married William Robert Hible, son of William "Buster" Hible and Josephine (Jay) Hible at St. Marys Rectory in Westville, IL on November 16, 1945 by Father Siesel.

Nora has six children, Christine (John) Ramsey, Lynn (Dennis) Garner, James (Patricia) Hible, Daniel "Boone" Hible Donald "Duck" (Kathy) Hible and Marie (Lindsay) Varner, eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Nora is preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1978, two brothers, Oscar and Chuck McClain and three sisters, Theresa Hansbrough, Minnie Downing and Oma Sempsrott, and one granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Atwood-Hillard.

Growing up, Nora had six sisters and two brothers, Theresa, Minnie, Oscar, Chuck, Vergie, Oma, Cora and Betty. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and worked at Leverenz Restaurant, Tom McGowans Restaurant, Millikin Dry Cleaners, the Florsheim Shoe Factory, Illinois Bell and lastly, the Danville, IL Veterans Affairs Hospital from which she retired in 1992. Nora enjoyed all kinds of handicrafts, traveling, reading, playing cards like Euchre, Rummy, Spades and Poker and enjoyed a good game of Scrabble.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Father Steven Loftus will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the funeral home.

It is kindly requested that those in attendance of the visitation or service wear a mask and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Noras memory to the American Heart Association or Holy Family Catholic Church.
