Danville - Nina Smiley, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 25, 2015 at 8:50 a.m. at Presence United Samaritan Hospital in Danville. Nina was born the daughter of Archie and Shirley Green on January 30, 1926 in Sailor Springs, Illinois. Nina married her sweetheart Vernon Smiley on June 2, 1957, he survives. Nina is survived by her son John (Sheila) Smiley of Oakwood, and daughters Judith (Mike) Brnicky of Griffith, IN and Phyllis (Joe) Bachus of Nashville, TN; her grandchildren Brock Brnicky, Blair (Tricia) Brnicky, JoAnn (Norman) Berry, Dustin (Mandy) Claypool, Zachary (Renee) Claypool, Parker Claypool, Great-Grandchildren, Allie Claypool, Isaac Claypool, and Cailynn Claypool. Nina is preceded in death by her parents Archie and Shirley, her two sisters Margret Green and Shirley Walker, and two brothers Shelby Green and Archie Green Jr. Nina was active in the First Baptist Church for over 50 years in Danville. She was also an active Member of the Order of the Eastern Star Organization, and a Worthy Matron of the Iris Chapter #307 in 1974. Nina loved gardening, and was an excellent house keeper. She will be greatly missed by her friends, family, and church friends. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday February 28, 2015 at 2 pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a life celebration home in Danville. Pastor Jerry Cummins will officiate, and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday February 27, 2015 from 5 pm to 7 pm also at Sunset Funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimers Association or the First Baptist Church in Danville in Ninas name.
