DANVILLE- Nina W. Charles, 78 of Danville, passed away at 2:03am on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Provena USMC in Danville. She was born on July 28, 1929, in Georgetown, IL, the daughter of Chester and Winifred Fratsow Shaw. Both deceased. On June 8, 1946, Nina married Winnie Charles Jr. in Danville. He preceded her in death in 1986. Survivors include her six children: Carl L. (Phyllis) Charles of Tenn., Kenneth W. Charles of Danville, Paul E. (Tina) Charles of Danville, Kathy (James) White of Tilton, Debra K. Stevens of Tenn., and Anna (Timothy) Le Claire of Danville. Also surviving Nina are her twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and her two sisters: Ruth Sabotta of Wenatchee, Washington, and Mary Garbs of Scofield, Ill. Her brother precedes Nina in death. Nina was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Danville. Attended Danville High School and later, at the age of 60, received her GED. She was an avid Illini Sports fan, as well as an avid Tennessee Volunteer Womens Basketball fan. She enjoyed playing bingo, collecting cookbooks, spending time with her family and being with her dog, Belle.
