Nicena L. Parke 78, of Georgetown, passed away at 10:42 am Saturday February 14, 2009 at Provena USMC in Danville. She was born February 26, 1930 in Danville, the daughter of Claude and Lucille (Sowers) Smith. She married John Lemezis on July 7, 1950 in Danville. He preceded her in 1983, Nicena later married Ronald Parke on March 18, 1991 in Danville, he survives. Those who will miss her include: three sons, Frank (Linda) Lemezis of Ridge Farm, Zigmund (Lisa) Lemezis of Decatur, & John Lemezis of Westville; one step-son, Brian (Karina) Parke of St. Joseph; one brother, Vearl (Pat) Smith of Danville; a sister, Rose Dempsey of Tilton; seven grandchildren, Erin Fagg, Jacob, Maghen and Adalyn Parke, Jason Doggett, Nikki White and Kevin Alexander; nine great-grandchildren, Cody, Jacob and Jesse Doggett, Dawson and McKenzie Keller, Kristopher and Wynter White, Keagan and Cassidy Alexander. She was preceded in death by: her parents; a sister, Naomi; and two brothers, Bill and Don. Nicena had worked at the Flamingo Company in Danville and later was employed by the Westville School District for fifteen years. She held memberships of the Moose Club #1001 of Danville and the American Legion Auxiliary of Westville Post # 51. Nicena loved flower gardening, sewing and the outdoors. She was also known for making crafts for her grandchildren. Most of all Nicena loved the time she could spend with her family. A celebration of life funeral service for Nicena L. Parke will be at 12 noon on Tuesday February 17, 2009 at Sunsets Houghton- Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown. Officiating will be Rev. James Blue. Place of rest will be in McKendree Cemetery East of Georgetown. Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to the funeral on Tuesday at the funeral home.
