Nevada Ellen Plummer

Urbana - Nevada Ellen (Ellaby) Plummer, 76, passed away on Monday January 23, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born on August 28, 1940 in Indianapolis, IN to John William and Lena Marie (Fleischer) Ellaby. Ellen married David Leslie Plummer on September 1, 1962 in Indianapolis, IN. Ellen is survived by her daughters Christine B. (Randy J. Sr.) Deel, Penny Moisson, and Rebecca Plummer (Peter J.) Rohloff; granddaughter Lizzie Moisson; several nieces and one nephew. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings Frieda Ramsay, Marian Small, and Bill Ellaby. Ellen enjoyed arts & crafts such as quilting and sewing, and was an avid lover of music, nature, and science. She was an international traveler. Ellen loved children; she was an early childhood educator and administrator for the majority of her life. She was an active member at the Webber Street Christian Church and worked at Family Services. She did extensive volunteering with RSVP, the Senior Resource Center, and the IDEA Store, and she took part in Senior Odyssey. A celebration of Ellen's life will be held at 1pm on Saturday January 28, 2017 at Webber Street Christian Church, 107 S Webber St, Urbana, IL 61802. Pastor Sam Stowe will officiate. Reception will follow. Gathering will begin 30 minutes prior to service at the church. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ellen's name to the American Heart Association or Wuqu Kawoq - Maya Health Care Alliance, Guatemala.
