Neva M. Burchett

Rose Hill, Virginia- Neva M. Burchett, 80, formerly of Cayuga and a resident of Rose Hill for the past 5 years, passed away at 5:13 a.m. EDT Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Indiana University Health Arnett in Lafayette. She was born May 6, 1934 in Rose Hill, Virginia, the daughter of the late Cecil and Alta Smith Glass. She married Donald W. Burchett on January 12, 1951 in New Tazewell, Tennessee. He preceded her in death on November 1, 2007. Survivors include her children, Debbie(Erroll)Harding of Cayuga, Indiana; Pattie(Ron)Goodrich of Winamac, Indiana; Jim(Donna)Burchett of Carthage, Texas and Sandi Burchett of Lafayette, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Georgia Stanbaugh of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and Wanda Mitchell of Rose Hill, Virginia; one brother, Claude(Jewell)Glass of Rose Hill, Virginia. Neva was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Neva retired from North Vermillion Elementary in 1997 as a cook. She was a member of the Waterman Baptist Church in Lodi, Indiana. Neva was a 1951 graduate of Flatwoods High School in Jonesville, Virginia. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services: 1 p.m. EDT Saturday, April 11, 2015 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Sam Guilliams; Burial: Eugene, Cemetery in Eugene, Indiana; Visitation 11 a.m. EDT until time of services on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the funeral home.
