Danville, Ill. - Nellie H. Palmer, 94, of Danville, passed away at 1:20 a.m. CST Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Colonial Manor Health Care in Danville.

She was born April 30, 1922 in Cayuga, Indiana the daughter of the late Ivy and Gladys (Ditto) Peterson.

Nellie first married Bernard Williams. She later married Gene Palmer. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son, Bill Williams of Danville, Illinois; several grandchildren; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Dickerson of Danville, Illinois; two brothers, Raymond Peterson and Bake (Norma) Peterson, both of Cayuga, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews.

Nellie was preceded in death by three infant children; two daughters, Shirley Craft and Betty Melvin, and two sisters, Florence Lloyd and Beverly Stiles.

Nellie formerly worked at Bohn and General Electric, both in Danville. She last worked at Hughes Aircraft in Tucson, Arizona. She was a member of the D.A.V.; Cayuga American Legion Auxiliary Unit #263 and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed playing solitaire and poker, watching NASCAR and raising Doxins.

Graveside service and inurnment of cremains will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. EDT at Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana. There will be no visitation. Contributions may be made to the C.A.R.A. Animal Shelter; 609 East 5th Street, Tilton, Illinois 61833. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family with arrangements.
