Nedra A. Mathis 79, of Danville, passed away at 4:15 a.m. on Saturday Jan. 30, 2016. Nedra had been surrounded by family in her last days. She loved and died peacefully at her home and was met by God's loving arms. She was born Sept. 2, 1936 in DeSoto, MO. Nedra was the daughter of Alfred and Opal "Fern" Lamprich Bryson. She married Robert E. Mathis on June 30, 1956 in St. Louis, Mo. He survives. Other survivors include a son Robert A. ( Regina M. ) Mathis of McMinnville, TN, a daughter Carol L. ( William Sewell) Dillbeck of Cambridge, IL.; 2 grandchildren- William Christopher Dillbeck of Cambridge, IL, and Kristie L. Mathis of Springfield, IL. A sister Halene Barber of Fenton, MO. A great granddaughter Madilynn Mae Dillbeck of Cambridge. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews as well as special friends Larry and Nelda Kieholz and Bob (the late Wilma) Courson of Danville. Nedra was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Norman Bryson. Nedra was a graduate of McKinley High School of St. Louis, MO. where she was her class valedictorian. She was a homemaker and also worked at East Park Jr. High School in Danville. Most recently she retired as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Danville. She was a 40 year member of the First Baptist Church in Danville and was also a member of the Christian Women's Club. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. (Feb.4, 2016) at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville Officiating will be Pastor Robert Courson Jr., Pastor Paul Rebert, and Pastor Philip Neumann. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wed. (Feb. 3, 2016) at the funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
