Natalie Ann Richards, 88, of Danville, IL passed away at 10:15 AM on July 28, 2025 at her home with her family by her side.
Natalie was born on October 30, 1936 the daughter of Harold Adkins and Ruby Smith. She married Buren Richards on October 17, 1956 in Danville, IL who preceded her in death on August 26, 2024.
Natalie is survived by her children, Kimber (Richard) Chiantaretto of West Valley City, UT, Vickie Richards of Danville, IL and Blane (Darla) Richards of Van Alstyne, TX, eleven grandchildren, Krista (Jense) Bowles, Rick (Mike West) Chiantaretto, Laura (Randy) Perry, Justin Richards, Kellie Casper, Jeremy (Lisa) Yarberry, Matthew Richards, Megan Garrett, Amanda Garrett, Brooklyn Garrett and Kourtney Richards, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Natalie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Buren Richards, siblings, Jackie Adkins and Opal Bostwick and one grandson, Jeffrey Yarberry.
Natalie had a long career working in electronics at GEC Marconi in California. After retirement she opened a day care in her home before moving back to Danville.
Natalie was a member of CrossRoads Christian Church and had a deep love for the Lord. She participated in the CrossRoads sewing program where they would sew clothing and blankets for children in Third World countries. Natalie was an exceptional baker, known for her pies, especially her banana cream pies. She would also bake a cake for every employee at the cancer center for their birthdays. She loved all animals and never met a stranger as she befriended everyone. Her greatest joy in life came from her family and as it expanded so did her joy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Greg Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made in Natalie’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
