Naomi Ruth Mode

Danville Naomi Ruth Mode, 96, of Danville, IL passed away at 5:02 PM am on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Accolade Care of Danville, formerly North Logan Healthcare in Danville, IL.

Naomi was born on May 8, 1924 the daughter of Cloyd and Nina (Oakwood) Laflen in Danville, IL. She married George Mode on June 7, 1946 in Danville and he preceded her in death on March 26, 2017.

Survivors include one son, Chuck (Helen) Mode of Danville, IL, one granddaughter, Anna (Jeffrey) LoBue of Yelm, WA, one great grandchild, Oliver LoBue of Yelm, WA, one sister, Rita Lewis of Richmond, VA, one sister-in-law, Martha Davis of Danville, IL, nephews, John Conover, Doug Lewis, Jeff Lewis and Scott Davis, as well as and nieces, Judy Sanders and Marla (Mike) Lane.

Naomi is preceded in death by her parents, husband, George, brother, Charles Laflen, and sister, Doris Conover.

Naomi was a member of St Pauls Catholic Church. She was a 1942 graduate of Armstrong High School and attended Utterback-Brown Business School. Naomi worked at Conron/Danville Industrial Supply where she met her husband, George. She also worked at Woodbury Book Company and later Meis until she retired in 1989. Naomi enjoyed spending her free time needlepointing, reading and listening to opera and later in life, books on tape. Naomis cherry pies, Christmas fudge and turkey dressing will greatly be missed at this and all future holidays.

A Private Family Graveside Celebration of Life will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM. Father Bowen Schmitt will officiate. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family wishes to Thank Amanda, Gail, and the staff at Accolade Care of Danville for the excellent care Naomi received.

In Lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church.
