Nancy Kelley 57 of Ridge farm passed away at 12:50 A.M. Wednesday December 1, 2004 at her home. She was born December 2, 1946 in Tuscola IL the daughter of Eli and Martha Robinson Hurt. She first married Royce Adamson and later married Steve Kelley on November 20, 1988 in Ridge Farm. Surviving her mother Martha J. Hurt of Allerton IL, husband Steve, one son Troy A. (Christina) Adamson of Munster In, a daughter April L. (Tony) Serio of Daytona Beach Fl, one brother John E. (Kay) Hurt of Decatur Il, one grand-daughter Isabelle Rose Serio of Daytona Beach Fl. Nancy was preceded in death by her father. Nancy was a life-long resident of Vermilion County, she was born and raised in the Allerton area, and attended public schools there. Nancy was active in church and civic affairs her entire life, and was elected to the Vermilion County Board to succeed Judy Myers, who was appointed to the Illinois Senate after the death of Harry "Babe" Woodyard. She was elected to the 2 year unexpired term, then re-elected in 2000. Prior to her service in the recorders office, she had been systems manager and assistant secretary in an agricultural equipment firm, where she was responsible for multiple-site computer systems and handled computer programming in addition to being pension coordinator and the bookkeeping department of a multi-million dollar operation. Nancy was a greeter for the Danville Chamber of Commerce, active in the noon Kiwanis, Danville Business and professional women, Ridge farm Lions Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Board of Directors of the Vermilion Red Cross and many other activities. She was a member of the Allerton United Methodist Church and attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Danville. Nancy was active in the Illinois Clerks and Recorders Association having served as president of zone # 3, and was chairman of the legislative Committee. She was elected as Elwood Twp clerk in 1997 and was active in the Vermilion County American Heart Walk. Nancy was interested in the economic development in the area as well as service and support to social and community organizations.
