Nancy Marcum passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2020 in Bloomington, IL.
She was born in Danville, IL. on November 10,1941 to the late Earl and Captolia Besse. She graduated from Danville High School in 1959 and earned a nursing degree from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1962.
Nancy worked at the V.A. Hospital in Danville for 29 years, where she met her husband and love of her life, Howard Marcum. They were married on Jan.1, 1979 and had 41 wonderful years together.
She is survived by Howard, her sons Greg Wilder(Kristin) of Bloomington, IL., Joshua Marcum(Blanca) of Virginia Beach, VA., daughters Suzanne Ashworth of Columbus, OH., and Rachel Cunningham(Terry) of Bloomington, IL., as well as 8 grandchildren and 2 great-children, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by sisters Earleen (Charlie) Antle, Beverly (Paul) Sheehan, Kay (Bill) Dougherty and brothers Bill (Jan) Besse and Jack (Dorothy) Besse.
Nancy enjoyed traveling, cooking, fishing and spending time with her family. She had a great sense of humor and was an avid animal lover.
She was a devoted wife, mother and friend and will be dearly missed by everyone in her life.
At her request there will not be a service, but rather a celebration of life, date and location TBD. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Vermilion County Humane Society in her name.
Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 has been entrusted with arrangements. Per Nancys wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
