Nancy "Nanny" E. Hardy, age 79 of Danville, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 4:55 PM at Colonial Manor in Danville, with family by her side. She was born October 28, 1937 in Danville the daughter of James and Susan (Hashman) White. She was formerly married to Harold Hardy. Nancy will be greatly missed by her brothers, Charles (Carol) White of Fort Pierce Florida, George (Betty) White of Tilton, Albert White of Danville, and Bill White of Danville; sister, Linda White, of Danville; her special niece Angel White of Danville; as well as several other nieces, nephews, and a special friend, Barb Bann. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Henry White, Bob White, Hershel White, Carl White, Jerry White and her sister Mary Peterson. Nancy was a LPN for over 40 years. She started her career at the Margenette Nursing home and retired from the Vermilion Manor Nursing home. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her sister Linda going shopping and to get lunch. Nancy enjoyed cooking and making her famous Peanut Butter Fudge and pies. Nancy loved to go to different festivals, especially the Covered Bridge Festival. Nancy loved country music and one of her special memories was when she got to meet Alan Jackson. Nancy loved the family gatherings at the river. During the summer months, she could be found sitting in her glider on the porch. Nancy had a soft spot for animals that has carried on to Angel. She has rescued many stranded doggies and kitties, the most recent being Molly and Billy. Even when she didn't feel well, she always asked about them. Through the tough exterior was a soft heart of gold. Nancy got her nickname when Angel was little. Angel was unable to say Aunt Nancy and it always came out "Nanny" and it stuck with her through the years. Everyone knew her by this name. Nanny has left a void in the lives of the ones that loved her that will never be filled. Nanny was Angel's sidekick. They were always together doing something and going somewhere. Nanny loved watching the Cubs play on TV with Angel and even called from the hospital to see what the score was. She enjoyed the couple trips to Wrigley Field and she was looking forward to going to Wrigley Field next year. Nanny, Linda and Angel, the 3 Amigos forever and always. A Celebration of Nancy's Life will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville. Pastor Scott McCurdy will officiate.
