Nancy E. Atwood

Danville- Nancy E. Atwood, 80, of Danville died at 5:28 PM on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. She was born on June 28, 1931 in Springfield, IL to Earl V. and Nancy N. Sumpter Atwood. She is survived by two brothers, Dick Atwood of Danville and Frank Atwood, also of Danville; three nieces, Alice Ann Price, Sue Ann Alvey of Virginia, and Angie Culpepper of Tallahassee, FL; Great nieces and nephews, Brent Atwood of St. Petersburg, FL, Luke Atwood of Danville, Scott atwood of Danville, and Broc Atwood, also of Danville; an aunt, Dorothy Dickelman; and her special furry friend, Tex. She was preceded in death by her parents and a special friend, Maggie McCool. Nancy attended Danville High School. She worked in the cafeteria at the YWCA for 13 years, and later Lakeview Hospital for 30 years until her retirement. Nancy was a member of Central Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved horses, dogs, and cats. Per Nancy's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services. Burial will take place at a later date at Springhill Cemetery.
